Does the assassination of Indira Gandhi really hurt India?
It's really a controversial question that the answer may vary depending upon the states in India. Indira Gandhi, the 3 rd prime minister of India was assassinated at 9:20 a.m on 31 OCT 1984, at her New Delhi residence. She was killed by her two bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh. The reason behind the assassination is well known that Operation Blue star held at Golden temple in Amritsar. After the assassination, the revenge was taken by anti-Sikh mobs, notably Congress Party members take over the riots. Indian government reports numbered about 2800 killed across India but independent sources estimate the number of death at about 8000 people. That violence made a lot of Sikh refugees. The violence killed a number of children, innocents, elders. On the other hand as a prime minister, she brought radical change in Indians political, economic, national and international politics, nationalization of banks, nationalization of various trade sectors like coal, steel, textile, refining and cotton industries, Bangladesh formation, boomed defence sectors etc.., We can say that the Operation Bluestar is to remove Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed forces worked against Indira Gandhi means....
What is the reason behind the violence?
Is this really a revenge against innocents?
Is congress showed their superpower at that time?
If it is a violence carried out due to the assassination of a national leader means why it has not happened during Mahatma Gandhi's shot out?
